Westshore Community Emergency Hub
A designated gathering place where residents support one another during earthquakes, storms, flooding or other major events. Run by local volunteers, the Hub is a vital part of Westshore's resilience — offering information, help and neighbour-to-neighbour support when normal services are disrupted. At the heart of Westshore for generations, providing beach patrols, water safety education and lifesaving services along Napier's coastline. A welcoming club where members of all ages build confidence and skills through popular junior and senior programmes.

A volunteer conservation group protecting the vulnerable banded dotterel and other shore-nesting birds along Hawke's Bay's coastline. Established in 2022, the group monitors nesting sites, educates the community and works to reduce threats to these remarkable native birds.
Save the Dotterels Hawke's BayAhuriri Estuary Protection Society
Dedicated to preserving the ecological health of the Ahuriri Estuary. Through advocacy, education and hands-on conservation, the Society works with local authorities and volunteers to improve water quality, restore native habitats and protect one of Hawke's Bay's most important coastal ecosystems.

Helping young people develop confidence, leadership and life skills through an adventurous, water-based programme. Members enjoy sailing, kayaking, camping and community service, supported by dedicated volunteer leaders.

One of Westshore's most distinctive natural spaces and home to a coastal restoration project reviving a rare native ecosystem. Recognised as a Significant Natural Area, it provides a refuge for threatened native plant species. Led by Biodiversity Hawke's Bay with iwi and community volunteers.

An essential part of Hawke's Bay's maritime safety network, providing volunteer search and rescue, boating assistance and safety education. Operating around the clock when needed, its volunteers help keep everyone safe on the water.
