Walkways & Cycleways

Explore Westshore on foot or by bike — a network of coastal and estuary paths connecting our community to the wider Hawke's Bay trails.

Westshore Cycle Trails

Westshore is one of the best gateways to the Hawke's Bay Trails, with direct access to over 200 km of connected cycleways. Whether you're after a leisurely family ride or a full-day adventure, it's all on your doorstep.

  • Flat, easy riding for all ages
  • Stunning coastal scenery
  • Rich birdlife around the Ahuriri Estuary
  • Great cafés in Westshore, Ahuriri and Bay View
  • No need to drive to access the trail network

A unique feature of riding from Westshore is that much of the route crosses land created by the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake, where uplift transformed sea and lagoon into today's coastal pathways.
